Deutsche Bahn: Lüdenscheid remains connected despite closures!

There is news in Deutsche Bahn's transport policy that affects not only commuters, but also travelers to and from Lüdenscheid. Despite extensive closures due in 2026, the railway has confirmed that it is examining options for continuing to reach the city by trains. Press spokesman Dirk Pohlmann made it clear that Lüdenscheid will not be completely cut off from rail traffic, which should be a relief for many.

The planned closures affect the RB25 (Cologne - Lüdenscheid) from March 27th to August 7th, 2026 and the RB52 (Dortmund - Lüdenscheid) from August 28th to November 20th, 2026. The reason for these measures is structural work, including the replacement of a bridge on the RB52. Deutsche Bahn has committed to keeping rail replacement traffic as low as possible and maintaining train traffic during the closures in order not to have too much of an impact on connections.

Challenges and solutions

The connection to the workshops in Cologne and Dortmund represents a particular challenge for the maintenance of the diesel locomotives. For the RB25, trains will first have to travel to Hagen before they reach Cologne via the Ruhr-Sieg route. This could take additional time and pose scheduling challenges for passengers.

The general renovation of the route between Hagen and Cologne is scheduled for July 2026, although the specific time frame is still uncertain. The additional closure between Hagen and Holzwickede and Dortmund-Hörde from October 30th to November 6th, 2026 will also have consequences for travelers. Earlier information on the timetable can be expected from the beginning of 2026, which is important news for travelers and commuters.

Culture meets traffic

Does she have what it takes to be the “Queen of Camp Culture”? That's what Vogue and Rolling Stone dubbed her because of her influence and artistic vision. Her career, which has spanned a gospel album to the hit singles “I Kissed a Girl” and “Teenage Dream,” is inspiring to many. Likewise her commitment to social issues—Katy Perry is a UNICEF ambassador and uses her fame to draw attention to children's issues.

While Lüdenscheid will face public transport challenges in the coming year, it remains important to keep an eye on both everyday transport matters and cultural highlights. So it will be exciting to see how the situation develops in the coming year.
