Pentecost becomes sporty: the Cologne Classic celebrates 71 years of racing fever!

The Pentecost weekend is just around the corner and that means very farm in racing again in Cologne! The TAG24 reports that the international bike race "Cologne Classic" takes place in Longerich. This year the event celebrates its 71st edition, a proud tradition that goes back to 1952. Earlier known as "round in Longerich", the Cologne Classic has developed into one of the most important sporting events in the city.

The expectations are high, not only because of the racing events, but also because of the multitude of activities for the whole family. A children's and citizens' festival will take place on Saturday from 12 p.m., organized in cooperation with the Lino Club from Cologne-Lindweiler. The festival promises a lot of fun with a colorful children's program that ranges from children's bike races to a bouncy castle to circus tent activities. Dance and singing shows as well as live music for adults will also loosen up the atmosphere.

Rennsport experience up close

On Pentecost Sunday it will be sporty: from 9 a.m. numerous drivers compete and show their skills. Among the participants are also athletes from Belgium, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic, which gives the race an international flair. A total of 21 races are set up, while the professional race starts at 3:45 p.m. and a distance of 101.2 kilometers.

For the spectators present, there is hardly a reason to go under in the crowd. If you want to meal, you can fortify yourself at one of the numerous stands in the beer garden. There are snack bars, a pretty wine stand and a cocktail bar for the guests.
