The Pentecost weekend is just around the corner and that means racing will be busy again in Cologne! The Day24 reports that the international cycling race “Cologne Classic” is taking place in Longerich. This year the event celebrates its 71st edition, a proud tradition that dates back to 1952. Formerly known as “Rund in Longerich”, the Cologne Classic has developed into one of the city's most important sporting events.
Expectations are high, not only because of the racing, but also because of the variety of activities for the whole family. On Saturday from 12 p.m. there will be a children's and citizens' festival, organized in collaboration with the Lino Club from Cologne-Lindweiler. The festival promises lots of fun with a colorful children's program that ranges from children's bike races to a bouncy castle and circus tent activities. Dancing and singing shows as well as live music for adults will also liven up the atmosphere.
Experience racing up close
Things get sporty on Whitsunday: from 9 a.m. numerous drivers compete and show off their skills. The participants also include athletes from Belgium, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic, which gives the race an international flair. A total of 21 races will be held, while the professional race starts at 3:45 p.m. and covers a distance of 101.2 kilometers.
There is hardly any reason for the spectators present to get lost in the crowd. If you feel like eating something, you can fortify yourself at one of the numerous stands in the beer garden. Snack bars, a pretty wine stand and a cocktail bar await guests there.
