On July 2, 2025, the newly designed restaurant at 1. FC Köln's Geißbockheim will be ceremoniously opened. After months of intensive renovation work, the traditional location is ready to offer its guests a place in a modern guise. The takeover by 1. FC Köln took place at the turn of the year, although the restaurant had previously been leased for decades and renovations could begin in February 2025. On Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. the first visitors can look forward to a redesign that harmoniously combines history and modernity. Again FC reports, there is great anticipation among those responsible to give all fans and guests a warm welcome.
The new restaurant scores with a light-flooded dining room that can accommodate 75 guests indoors and around 100 outdoors. The clubhouse manager, Gerhard Reimholz, emphasized that the menu is divided into “warm-up phase” and “afterplay time”, with the focus on Cologne classics such as currywurst, clubhouse burgers and club sandwiches. The prices are family-friendly and are under 25 euros. For special occasions, the box, named after the former club president Franz Kremer, offers space for up to eight people and shines in the style of the 1950s with nostalgic accents. The atmosphere created by the wall design with impressive pictures of fans of the Südkurve is intended to create a feeling of home every time you visit.
A place of meeting
The new premises are not only intended for regular restaurant visitors. Those interested can also rent the beautifully designed areas for external events. The new opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. There is an exception at the start of training for the FC professionals on July 7th, when the restaurant will also be ready to welcome guests from 11:30 a.m.
The reserved, redesigned interior was not only approved by those responsible at 1. FC Köln, the first guests were also enthusiastic. Some have already given suggestions for further decoration. One point that the first visitors praised was the fresh cuisine with creative and regional specialties, including sausage from Remagen and delicacies from the Merzenich bakery. The restaurant places a clear emphasis on the combination of tradition and innovation, which is what those responsible for the Cologne City Gazette also emphasize.
