Cologne triumvirate 2026: This is the new royal trio for carnival!

On July 8, 2025, the designated Cologne triumvirate for the 2026 carnival session was presented at the Cologne-Brück Volunteer Fire Department - an event that not only the city's carnivalists were eagerly awaiting. The performance took place in a festive setting while the temperatures outside were high and the summer weather created an exuberant atmosphere. With a clear commitment to tradition and a simultaneous focus on today, the session motto is: “Mer dun et för Kölle” (“We do it for Cologne”). This message reflects a new generation that is active, committed and down-to-earth for the city.

The main characters of the Cologne Carnival 2026 are:

  • Prinz Niklas I. (bürgerlich: Niklas Jüngling), 32 Jahre alt, wohnhaft in Köln-Lindenthal.

A strong team for Kölle

All three members of the triumvirate come from the Prinzen-Garde Köln 1906 e.V., which is celebrating its 120th anniversary in 2026. With their commitment to customs and camaraderie, the Guard brings a breath of fresh air to the carnival movement. Christoph Kuckelkorn, President of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee, paid tribute to the triumvirate for their exemplary commitment and willingness to create small moments of happiness in the coming session.

The Cologne-Brück Volunteer Fire Department was not only a very special event location, but also has its own reason to celebrate: it is celebrating its 120th anniversary with numerous active members who are involved in the fire fighting group. The members of the fire department, a total of 42 active firefighters and 18 youth fire department members, are proud to contribute to the community in Cologne. Their efforts are essential for the security of the city.

From tradition to modernity

The Prinzen-Garde has made a name for itself over the years and is considered one of the oldest corps in the Cologne Carnival. It shows that tradition and modernity can go hand in hand. The general corps roll call in January, where the triumvirate had its last major appearance before the proclamation, is a clear sign of how lively and dynamic the Cologne carnival is. Honors were also given here for long-standing members, which underlined the solidarity within the community.

The commitment of the new triumvirate is more than just an honor - it is an obligation. They not only embody the Cologne attitude to life, but also show how important volunteering and social interaction are in today's world. The anticipation for the upcoming carnival sessions is palpable, and the mix of tradition and fresh air promises an unforgettable time for all jecken.
