Fatal tram accident in Cologne: Cyclist dies after Crash!
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, in Cologne, when a 63-year-old cyclist was recorded on the corner of Alteburger Straße/Ubierring by KVB line 15. The man suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene of the accident. Witnesses reported that the cyclist may have drove over the traffic lights at red when the misfortune of the Cologne police would give a difficult task. The fire brigade and emergency services were on site with 35 emergency services and 14 vehicles, but a random emergency doctor could no longer help the man.
The Cologne Verkehrsbetriebe (KVB) immediately informed about the operating restrictions on lines 15 and 16, which lasted until late in the evening. The Ubierring was temporarily blocked in the direction of Chlodwigplatz for car traffic, which caused the police to remove the area far and to redirect traffic. For the passengers, this meant that line 15 between Chorweiler and Eifelstraße continued normally and then took the path of line 12 to Eifelplatz. Line 16 was separated into two parts and followed an alternative route via lines 3 and 4 to the Lanxess Arena.
