Rocker trial in Cologne: Escape abroad! Suspect up to date
The trial against Hasan Y., a 32-year-old rocker from the Bandidos, was scheduled to begin on July 18, 2025 in the Cologne district court. But the defendant did not appear - he escaped from the Remscheid prison and went abroad. As [Radio Erft](https://www.radioerft.de/artikel/koeln-angeklagter-rocker-offenbar-unterge Taucht-2384306.html) reports, Hasan Y. had already been convicted of aiding and abetting attempted murder and was serving a four-year prison sentence. His escape from open prison took place on June 25, 2025, the exact circumstances are still unclear.
The case against him relates to a violent altercation that occurred on December 8, 2018, when Bandidos members shot from a moving car at a VW Golf containing a Hells Angel. An uninvolved young man (21) was hit. Hasan Y. had rented the car and was also charged with grievous bodily harm when he fired at Hells Angels with a magnum revolver on November 21, 2018.
Escape via the Netherlands
Hasan Y.'s escape took him via the Netherlands to Turkey. Following his absence, an arrest warrant was immediately issued for him and the trial was suspended. The security situation surrounding rocker groups like the Bandidos is tense in Germany, with North Rhine-Westphalia in particular being considered a stronghold for these groups. According to Bild, the authorities have had to be confronted with criminal activities by rocker gangs on several occasions.
Rocker groups are often involved in violent clashes, and there are many reports of shootings and other acts of violence between the different clans, such as the Duisburg shooting in 2022. These conflicts are often related to drug trafficking and other illegal businesses. This problem has also been brought to the attention of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), which has identified up to 7,000 members of rocker groups relevant to the police in Germany. The RND reports that the Bandidos were the largest rocker club in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2021.
It remains to be seen how Hasan Y.'s case will develop further. The development of rocker crime in Germany is under special observation, and the authorities are looking for solutions to deal with these groups and maintain public safety.
