Traffic in both directions is particularly affected. For the direction of Bonn, traffic will be diverted at the Gremberghoven junction, while the direct access from the A4 to A559 for Bonn and vice versa will be closed. A diversion via the A3 towards Frankfurt offers an alternative, even if it could be challenging.

Detours and traffic management

If you are traveling towards Cologne or Aachen, the paths are also affected. The diversion for traffic from the direction of Bonn runs via the L124 and the A3 to the Köln-Ost junction. A note for commuters: From the Cologne-Ost junction it is possible to take the A4 towards Olpe, then turn around via the Cologne-Merheim junction and continue the route to Aachen.

The structural measures are no coincidence. The dismantling of “Gilgaustraße” and the new construction of “Rather Straße” are essential steps to improve the traffic situation and safety on Cologne’s motorways.
