Fritz boxers impress in Düsseldorf: Top performance from Anasse!

In the boxing world in Cologne you can always see exciting fights, which not only put the athletes themselves but also the fans of the sport in feverish anticipation. Last weekend, on June 21, 2025, three boxers from the Unser Fritz club competed in the Garather Boxing Club in Düsseldorf, and the results show the high potential of these young athletes.

The fights in detail

Cadet Emir May had to prove himself in the 40 kg class against Kevin Castro from BC Köln Kalk. The young athlete showed a good boxing school, used his quick leading hand effectively, but too often left his punching hand unused. At close range, Castro scored the decisive points, which ultimately led to the judges' decision in favor of the Cologne boxer, as [halloherne] reports.

In the 75 kg class, David Salewski competed against Andi Al Odisho from Vogelheim. This fight started badly for David, who was counted out twice at the start of the first round. After a tactical change during the break, he managed to start a comeback in lap two, but ultimately the victory fell to Al Odisho as the first lap was decisive.

However, there was good news for Anasse Azarfane, who fought up to 80 kg. He competed against Xehmmajl Zeneli from Weißenthurm and turned out to be the dominant boxer of the evening. With secure cover work and a clear points victory after several knockdowns by his opponent, Anasse was not only able to win the fight, but with this success he also rose to the second highest performance class, which represents a significant career step for him.

A look into the future of boxing

Boxing in Germany is very popular among the general population. The German Boxing Association reported around 81,000 members in 2024, which represents an increase compared to the previous year. In addition, around 5.62 million people showed particular interest in this traditional sport, which is one of the oldest martial arts in the world, according to [boxen100].

The upcoming events of the Unser Fritz association are also in focus. The 40th anniversary of the Schwarz-Weiß Unser Fritz e.V. boxing ring will be celebrated on September 7th and 9th, 2024. This event will feature 14 high-quality fights where local boxers will have the chance to showcase themselves. The mayor and WABB association president Gabriele König will also be present, which underlines the importance of this celebration.

The large number of talented young boxers who attracted attention at these events shows that the boxing scene in Cologne is anything but sleepy. Names like Hussian Safari and Mohammed Ali Rahmani promise a lot for the future.

In addition to all of this, there is also significantly less risk of injury in amateur boxing than in other sports such as football or handball. With a solid training program, boxers can also burn off calories without end. A 90-minute workout burns on average between 900 and 1000 calories, which certainly speaks for the fitness and health of those active.

The general future of boxing looks promising, and the club's athletes are certainly on the right track to attract attention internationally. The coming months will be crucial to see which talents will develop further from the ranks of the Schwarz-Weiß Unser Fritz boxing ring.
