The open air season in North Rhine-Westphalia is just around the corner and brings with it a colorful program of music festivals, city festivals and fairs. In July 2025, the region can expect a real fireworks display of events that offer something for every age group. From rock and pop to reggae and electro – the musical diversity could hardly be greater. 24rhein reports that the popular Summerjam Festival takes place on the first weekend in July at Fühlinger See in Cologne and invites visitors with fantastic rhythms.
Cologne also comes alive with Christopher Street Day (CSD), which begins on June 21st and culminates with a big parade on July 6th. This “colorfulness” of the city attracts numerous visitors every year who can look forward to a varied stage program with Cologne bands and entertainers. A highlight is likely to be the performance of Culcha Candela, which, like many other events at the Heumarkt, will put you in a good mood.
Music festivals in July
The music festivals are the real highlight of the month. The calendar is packed with exciting event highlights:

- Juicy Beats: 25. und 26. Juli in Dortmund, mit Acts wie Zartmann und Montez.
The Parookaville, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, attracts up to 200,000 festival-loving people from 40 countries every year. Visitors can look forward to a great line-up with acts like Afrojack and Armin van Buuren. Certainly an event not to be missed!
Culinary and cultural
But it's not just music that's on the program. There are also numerous city festivals and markets that offer culinary and cultural highlights. Highlights include the wine festival in Ahaus from July 11th to 12th and the Cheatday Street Food Market in Anröchte from July 11th to 13th. If you like something a little more creative, you should visit the juggler festival in Attendorn on July 13th.
The Summer projects in Cologne Don't stop there: until August 6th, free open-air events will take place through the streets of the city and invite you to enjoy the summer sun. The Landschaftspark Nord in Duisburg also has a lot to offer with its open air cinema, which runs from July 11th to August 24th. Here, film treasures are shown in a cozy atmosphere after dusk.
