Deutz 05 crowned itself in the district cup with a 4-0 win against Blau-Weiß Köln!

A hot summer weekend led to the coronation of the Deutz 05 sports association as the new cup winner in the Cologne football district. With a clear 4-0 win against Blau-Weiß Köln, Deutz 05 prevailed in the final on the artificial turf of the SV Gremberg-Humboldt sports facility. This heated argument took place at temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius and attracted around 450 spectators who were enthusiastic about the two cup finals despite the tropical conditions.

In the men's cup final, Niklas Grob opened the gate for Deutz in the 33rd minute, which raised the supporters' initial hopes. “We had good chances before,” said coach Ali Meybodi after the game. This dominance continued as Blau-Weiß Köln suffered from technical pressure. Coach Sören Schmitz noticed that the team didn't do any training in the days before the game and that was noticeable. After the half-time break, Blau-Weiß made a few changes that increased momentum, but Deutz 05's strong performance could not be overlooked. Ali Sandoghdar made it 2-0 in the 58th minute, followed by Ilias Koaibi, who added in the 79th minute. Okan Dönmez finally made it 4-0 in stoppage time.

Women's cup final and cup representation

At the same time, the women's cup final took place, where Deutz 05 defeated FC Viktoria Köln with an impressive 9:1 (5:0). With this victory, Deutz 05 represents the Cologne district in the FVM women's cup. Harald Gaspers from the Beatrix Lichtken Foundation handed over a symbolic sponsorship check to both teams, which further underlined the importance of these cup finals.

“Deutz 05 are the deserved winners,” was Schmitz’s assessment after the match, while he rated his own team as harmless. Coach Meybodi, on the other hand, was happy about his team's superiority and emphasized the importance of winning the cup after the last relegation.

Outlook for the coming season

However, the joy of victory must also have a bittersweet note, because Tobias Blum is ending his career and Thomas Idel is moving to Ahrweiler BC. Kohsei Maruki and Giancarlo Lorè are also leaving the club. On the positive side is the new signing of Tolga Kiracti, who is moving from TFC Köln to Deutz 05. Preparation for the season begins in ten days, in which the team wants to fight for the next title again with high motivation. Deutz 05 also qualified for the Middle Rhine Cup, along with FC Germania Zündorf, who beat Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind 3-1 in the small final.

Overall, the cup finals offered an exciting experience of local football, and SV Gremberg-Humboldt was praised for its excellent organization. This fiery atmosphere has the fans already looking forward to the coming season, in which Deutz 05 wants to show that winning the cup was no coincidence.
