Series Camp 2025: Record visit and new trends in Cologne

An exciting event for the media industry took place this week in Cologne: the series camp celebrated its 11th anniversary in the cathedral city and attracted over 900 trade visitors from the TV and film industry. This significantly exceeded the record number from previous years. "We have crossed a magical limit with this number," says Gerhard Maier, co -founder of the festival. Originally started in Munich, where around 300 participants came mainly from Germany, the event has now developed into an international highlight that presented various series, including international productions and numerous works created in Germany.

The focus was particularly on the innovations such as the RTL+series "Softies" and the ZDF production "Chabos". In addition, exciting formats such as "Rembetis-The Ghost Hunters" and the Sky documentary series "Love Scam" joined. Co-managing director Malko Solf emphasized the success of the festival format: "It is impressive to see how the series camp developed and what innovative strength comes together here."

a large networking event

The series camp took place as part of the Anga Com, which was held in Deutz and recorded impressive 22,000 participants. Despite the proximity to an evacuation area for world war bombs, the fair became a complete success. Anga Com managing director Peter Charissé did not miss the opportunity to praise the industry and the high number of participants. More than 250 speakers were active in over 60 panels who dealt with the latest trends and developments in the media landscape.

The Anga Com not only offers the area for exciting market talks, but also listed in the ARD Degeto "Streaming Campus", in which around 100 producers and creative people came together. ARD Degeto boss Thomas Schreiber emphasized the search for new, touching formats at the event. The media library in particular gets great attention; Here fiction is more than half of the use, as Christoph Pellander emphasized.

trends and innovations

The topics of artificial intelligence and their effects on the media and entertainment industry were also very popular in Cologne. According to a current contribution from market research, KI opens up new opportunities that come into play in film production and streaming services. Companies are increasingly relying on AI to optimize payment processes and the creation of personalized content. Netflix has increased its number of subscribers to a proud 277 million, not least through data -driven decisions regarding their content.

The series camp also presented the "Story Exchange", which offered producers and creative pitch events and networking opportunities. The festival will continue to grow in the coming years, the series camp Conference will take place again in 2025 from June 3 to 5, with ZDF Studios as the main partner. Here the participants can be excited about artificial intelligence, project financing and international co-productions.

next year, from May 19 to 21, Anga Com will open the doors again. The future of the media market looks Rosig - Cologne remains the place for creative minds and innovative ideas in the standard landscape. With early booking acreditations that are available from now on, the course for the upcoming event can already be set.
